Service Statement
My service reflects a sustained commitment to advancing my institution, contributing to the broader profession, and engaging with the community in ways that support teacher preparation, educational innovation, and student development. Across these areas, I have taken on leadership roles that emphasize collaboration, program development, and meaningful impact.
Service to Molloy University
My service to Molloy University is characterized by consistent leadership and active participation in initiatives that support faculty development, student engagement, and institutional growth. I currently serve as Chair of the School of Education and Human Services AI Subcommittee and have contributed to the University’s AI Policy Working Group, helping guide institutional conversations on the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. I have held elected and appointed roles across a range of university committees, including the Faculty Council Grievance Committee, Student Life Committee, and Campus and Community Life Committee. My earlier service includes co-chairing the School of Education Academic Policies and Practices Committee and contributing to strategic initiatives such as the Strategy Group for Online Learning and the First-Year Experience Task Force. I have also taken on visible leadership roles in major institutional events, serving as Conference Co-Chair for the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC) and Faculty Co-Chair for the annual For Molloy, By Molloy Alumni Conference. These roles involve program development, coordination across departments, and fostering connections between current students and alumni. In addition, I serve as Faculty Advisor to the Education Club and as a faculty mentor to student-athletes, supporting student leadership and engagement beyond the classroom. My work on initiatives such as the redesign of K324, now The Joanne O'Brien Room, further reflects my commitment to enhancing learning environments and supporting innovative teaching practices.
Service to the Profession
My professional service centers on advancing teaching, learning, and technology integration at the national level. I am an active member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), where I serve as a Certified Educator, portfolio reviewer, conference proposal reviewer, and awards judge. These roles involve evaluating educator portfolios, reviewing conference submissions, and contributing to national conversations about effective technology use in education. I serve on advisory boards for both The Teaching Professor Conference and the Teaching Professor Online Conference, and previously served as Conference Chair, contributing to the planning and direction of national professional development events for educators. My service to the profession also includes extensive peer review activity. I have reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and textbook proposals for publishers and organizations such as IGI Global, Bloomsbury Academic, Elsevier, and ISTE/ASCD. In addition, I have served as a conference reviewer for ISTE and NYSCATE, and contributed to quality assurance processes, including quality course review initiatives. Through these roles, I support the dissemination of scholarship, contribute to the evaluation of emerging work in the field, and help shape professional standards in education and educational technology.
Service to the Community
My community service reflects a long-standing commitment to education, mentorship, and outreach. I have facilitated workshops and learning experiences for K–12 students and educators, including work with organizations such as the Hance Family Foundation, where I support programs focused on building self-esteem and well-being among young girls. I also contribute to local educational initiatives through advisory roles and partnerships that connect higher education with schools and community organizations, such as the Rockville Centre Teacher Centre. My involvement in programs such as LEGO-based learning initiatives and STEM-related outreach reflects my interest in fostering creativity, problem-solving, and early engagement with technology. In addition, my long-term volunteer work includes leadership roles in youth organizations, school communities, and service initiatives, demonstrating a sustained commitment to supporting learners and families across educational contexts.
Integration of Service, Scholarship, and Teaching
Across these roles, my service focuses on shaping how teaching and learning are supported within the institution and the broader field. Whether through leading AI-related initiatives, contributing to faculty development, or supporting professional organizations, my work centers on improving instructional practice, supporting colleagues, and preparing future educators for evolving classroom contexts.
